Nerikomi Cup Patterned

$50.00

Nerikomi is a traditional Japanese technique of layering or wedging colored clays together.

These Nerikomi cups are made from a mix of stoneware and porcelain clay reclaim. Stoneware clay is colored with dark teal mason stains and wedged into white porcelain. Once the clays are blended, each piece is made into a slab and then attached to a flat foot using hand building methods. Finally, the cups are finished on the wheel for some final shaping. After the initial bisque firing, Nerikomi pieces are wet sanded to enhance clay contrasts. Interiors of each piece are glazed shiny and clear.

Due to the nature of hand-built cups, each piece takes on an organic shape and is not perfectly symmetrical. Each piece of handmade pottery varies slightly in design and size and is considered a unique piece of art.

Cup sizes range from 5-6oz. All pieces are food and dishwasher safe.

**Pieces purchased between November 17-20 should arrive in time for December holidays.
